Welcome to website of the Hamilton Model Aero Club (New Zealand)
The Hamilton Model Aero Club (HMAC) is located in the Waikato region of New Zealand’s North Island. HMAC has approximately 80 modelers, flying radio control, control line, free flight aircraft, and helicopters. The Club is affiliated to the New Zealand Model Aircraft Association “Model Flying NZ”, the governing body for all model flying in New Zealand, which in turn is affiliated to the F.A.I. through the Royal New Zealand Aero Club. We’ve hosted club, national and international competitions with our own club members having represented New Zealand in World FAI Events and International Events such as the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout.
The models built and flown by our club members cover a broad range, from replicating both civil and military aircraft, to fun-fly and some otherwise “unconventional designs”. Some are accurate scale reproductions of historic aircraft that have long disappeared from the skies and are the only link to our aviation past. We have members who are interested in flying aircraft with traditional internal combustion engines, electric motors and silent flight; in fact just about anything that flies.
Visitors are Welcome
You are invited to visit the club flying site on any Saturday or Sunday morning. There will usually be a number of club members present (weather permitting) who will be happy to answer any questions you have (though, preferably not while they are actually flying). Sunday is generally the most popular day, and best between 10am & 1pm.
Monthly Club Night Meetings
These occur on the 2nd Wednesday of February, May, July, September & December. Venue is the Beerescourt Bowling Club Rooms, 68A Maeroa Road (behind the tennis pavilion)
